Villa della Pergola

Preface: we didn't stay here just ate dinner and explored the amazing gardens. The food was exactly as you expected, fantastic! Playful combinations of land and sea like scallops banana prosciutto. Service was exceptional very accommodating with the tasting menu, and wine pairings were on point. Would go back and enjoy again and again.

Dear Villa della Pergola, I don't know why it's taken me until now - almost a year later - to write a review, as I promised. Perhaps it was for selfish reasons, as part of me wishes VdP remains the hidden gem it truly is, tucked away in soothing, lush gardens of Alassio. Perhaps it was for the realization I couldn't possibly accurately capture my overwhelming love for this, in every sense of the word, beautiful place. Upon arriving and carefully driving through the narrow gates to a paradise on earth, I still remember being greeted by the warm smile of Livio. Surely a kinder, more gentle man offering to help us with our luggage has never existed. I instantly knew, I'll fall in love with Villa della Pergola. When, a few minutes later, sitting in the lobby of the principal mansion, talking with the inviting hostess my initial sentiments were confirmed. We generously received an upgrade and walked upstairs to our pleasantly inviting, beautifully decorated room - Silvia. A room with a breathtaking view! On rare occasions in life, You seem to move effortlessly. In tune with and by the grace of the Universe, everything magically works out. Our stay at VdP, from the first minute of our arrival until we reluctantly yet joyfully said our "au revoir” to everyone, was a soulfully nurturing experience. We rarely get to enjoy such lovingly prepared breakfasts. The homemade, freshly baked bread and pastries were all treats. Savoring flavors to be enjoyed in arguably one of the most preciously cultivated gardens in Italy, overlooking the vast, mystifyingly blue Mediterranean. I could sit and read or write on the iron park benches for hours, or if life would permit, for weeks, months, or years on end. Pleasantly lost in time, in Alassio! Hidden on the protecting, green hillsides of Alassio, and only thanks to VdP we discovered La Vigna. Italian homemade cuisine with its most inspiring flavors and colors, served with Your choice of Italy’s most refined or simply deliciously decent wine. La Vigna treats locals and visitors alike to Italian dishes leaving everyone with warm, embracing smiles. I smile to this day, remembering a dinner I most certainly won’t forget. Il Pirata, in Laigueglia, offers a perfectly crusty pizza to be enjoyed with a bottle of rusty red Barolo or superb vintage of Bertani's Amarone. I couldn't help but wonder who was the individual managing this magnificent Villa, with a family of carefully and purposefully trained people - not least sommelier Marco - all proudly working with unmistakable smiles. When Nadia gently introduced her self to us, it was but a forgone conclusion why Villa della Pergola is a secluded paradise on earth. With exquisite taste, a sharp eye for details, and a warm smile Nadia naturally commands respect. It was a rare and wonderful privilege to briefly get to know her. It's an understatement to write we look forward to the joyful day we get to once again enjoy the paradise of Villa della Pergola. Respectfully and with admiration, Nicolas Peyron

Close to perfection ! We stayed four nights in a large wonderful room with beautiful terrace. Views over the impressive gardens and the bay. You enjoy a welcoming experience from the moment you enter the hotel gardens until you leave. Staff is helpful and so friendly. The restaurant offers as tasteful menu and winelist. A throughly great dining experience. The breakfast is a the same high level. The hotel has a discrete pool area in the garden. It's a 10 min walk to the beach and Alassio centre. A small point of attention as we stayed a few days the menu was a bit repetitive. We are looking forward to a next stay in this paradise.
